Occlusion in Implant Dentistry: What is Such A Big Deal?

Recorded November 7, 2023

Earn 1.0 CE

Sang Lee, DMD, MMSc

The advancement of dental implant has completely changed the prosthetic treatment of partially and fully edentulous patients. Dental implant restorations present a unique challenge due to the intrinsic biomechanical differences between osseointegrated implants and natural teeth.

However, the impact of occlusion on implant restorations and peri-implant disease has been controversial. The lecture will provide an overview of the scientific literature regarding implant occlusion and discuss the types of occlusal scheme which play a crucial role in achieving long-term success of the implant prostheses and its treatment.

The lecture will also present the biomechanical consequences of occlusal load and occlusal overload in the physiology of the peri-implant complex.

This webinar is COMPLIMENTARY to AO members.
Non-members may purchase access for $50.
